VPS GUIDE
How much is 25TB per month? VPS traffic estimates and overage
VANEROLA VPS includes up to 25TB per month of data sent from your server in the base fee. Data received by the server is not subject to transfer-volume charges. First, let's clarify these directions.
Inbound and outbound are relative to the server
- Incoming data
- Internet → VPS
- For example, uploading files to the server or downloading updates onto it. Inbound volume is unlimited and not subject to transfer-volume charges.
- Outgoing data
- VPS → Internet
- For example, serving web pages, images or API responses. Up to 25TB per month is included in the base fee.
When a visitor downloads a web page, that is outbound traffic from the VPS. 'Unlimited downloads' does not mean unlimited delivery to visitors.
What 25TB per month can represent
These simplified calculations assume 1TB = 1,000GB and 1GB = 1,000MB. They do not define billing measurement units; check your dashboard and contract for actual measurements.
| Data sent per transfer | Transfers within 25TB |
|---|---|
| 1MB | 25,000,000 |
| 10MB | 2,500,000 |
| 100MB | 250,000 |
| 1GB | 25,000 |
These are not guaranteed page-view or user counts. One visit may request multiple images and scripts. Compression, caching, retransmissions and backup traffic also affect usage.
10Gbps and 25TB measure different things
10Gbps describes speed; 25TB describes a monthly outbound volume allowance. Bandwidth of up to 10Gbps is best-effort, not a guaranteed constant speed. Monthly outbound volume conditions apply separately, even on a fast connection.
What happens at 25TB
Service is automatically paused when monthly outbound traffic reaches 25TB. It resumes after you review and agree to extra charges of JPY 1,250 per TB beyond 25TB, including tax. Overage before consent is not billed.
Total monthly outbound overage is rounded up to the next whole TB. For example, post-consent monthly overage of 0.4TB costs JPY 1,250, and 1.2TB costs JPY 2,500, including tax.
This article reflects conditions at publication. Applicability to existing contracts and change procedures depend on your contract. Consult the VPS terms for current conditions.
Plan using measured usage
Check normal outbound usage and allow for updates, traffic growth and off-server backups. Compressing web images and using caching can sometimes reduce outbound traffic.
Unused traffic allowance does not permit every type of use. Check the prohibited-use and abuse-handling provisions in the VPS terms.
