1. OpenStreetMap data
Building, road, water and other geospatial information uses OpenStreetMap data created by OpenStreetMap contributors. This data is provided under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL).
For details, see OpenStreetMap copyright and license and Attribution Guidelines.
2. Search and data retrieval
Place-name search uses Nominatim, and area-based OpenStreetMap data retrieval uses public Overpass APIs. These services provide a way to search and retrieve OpenStreetMap data; they do not guarantee search results, continued availability, response times or data completeness.
3. Map tiles
You can select map tiles from OpenStreetMap, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan and Esri. Do not remove, obscure or make the attribution displayed on each map difficult to read.
Displayed map and aerial imagery tiles help you select an area. Buildings, roads and water are generated from OpenStreetMap geospatial data. With elevation enabled, separately retrieved GSI elevation data is also used for generation.
Website map backgrounds
Backgrounds on the home, services, CityTrace overview and setup guide pages use GSI standard maps at zoom level 5, with layout and color processing by VANEROLA. This is a separate source from the OpenStreetMap attribution on generated examples.
Source:GSI Tiles (Geospatial Information Authority of Japan). Small-scale bathymetric contours derive from GEBCO Digital Atlas (published by BODC for IOC and IHO, 2003). Japan Coast Guard permission no. 292502 applies under Article 25 of the Hydrographic Activities Act. Shorelines derive from Vector Map Level 0 (VMAP0, US National Imagery and Mapping Agency, USGS Information Services, 1997).
Elevation data (experimental)
With elevation enabled, GSI 5m and 10m elevation tiles are interpolated and converted to blocks. Placement is relative to the minimum elevation in the selected area, and the chosen scale also applies vertically. Foundations, bridges and watersides are approximations; survey accuracy, geology and snow cover are not guaranteed.
When publishing outputs, images or videos using elevation, include a source link and the notice 'GSI elevation tiles processed by VANEROLA' alongside OpenStreetMap attribution. Datapacks include TERRAIN-SOURCES.txt and .schem files include source metadata, but attribution should also be visible in the published presentation.
4. Publishing and distributing generated content
When publishing or distributing worlds, schematics, data packs, screenshots or videos generated with CityTrace, display at least “© OpenStreetMap contributors” in a clearly visible location and, where possible, link to openstreetmap.org/copyright.
Additional ODbL conditions may apply depending on how data in the output is used. You are responsible for checking the license conditions for large-scale publication, redistribution as a database, commercial use and other uses where the requirements are unclear.
5. Relationship to Minecraft and other software
CityTrace is an unofficial tool for Minecraft Java Edition. It is not endorsed, affiliated with or guaranteed by Mojang Studios, Microsoft, Minecraft, WorldEdit or FastAsyncWorldEdit's operators.
Names, trademarks and software belong to their respective rights holders. Each software product is subject to its own terms and license.
